Brisbane-based Senex Energy Ltd. announced appraisal well results from #3-Burruna in the Cooper-Eromanga Basin. The venture hit pay in Manur and also encountered additional oil accumulation in the previously untapped lower Birkenhead. Located in South Australia's PEL 115 block, the well was drilled to 5,450 ft. and confirmed the structural mapping of the Burruna oil field. The venture hit 9.84 ft. of interpreted net pay in lower Birkenhead. Wireline logging is currently underway. Good quality oil and gas shows were encountered in Murta, which is productive in the adjacent Fury and Mirage Fields. The new discovery is about a quarter-mile southeast of the discovery at #2-Burruna. Senex is the operator of PEL115 and the Burruna wells with 80% interest in partnership with Orca Energy, holding the remaining 20%.
