Blake Thomson

Blake Thomson has spent the past 10 years working in a strategic analytics capacity in the oil and gas industry. He currently leads digital transformation and automation projects for the Water Management department with Pioneer Natural Resources. 

Prior to that, he worked in completions execution to develop, implement and manage the department’s KPI targets and analytics tools. To date, he has utilized strategic analytics to identify an additional $35 million in cost savings and improved efficiencies. 

While with Wagner Oil Co., Thomson led a capital efficiency initiative and built an automated capital tracking dashboard that helped manage $10 million NPV in operated projects and $15 million NPV in cost avoidance for joint venture projects. 

At RPS Group, Thomson engaged in reserves consulting and worked on 150-plus consulting projects. 

Thomson holds a geology degree with an economics concentration from Texas A&M University. He earned his project management professional certification in 2019, and he will graduate this year with a Master’s of Science in advanced data analytics with a management concentration from the University of North Texas.
