Drilling Activity Summary

Description

Anadarko Petroleum Corp. has filed an exploration plan to expand the company’s King/Horn Mountain Field in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. According to IHS Markit, up to 20 tests could be drilled from various surface locations on Mississippi Canyon Block 128 (OCS G35964) and Block 129 (OCS G10977). The first test is planned for a site in the northeastern portion of Block 128. Water depth in the area is 5,400 ft. The multiblock King/Horn Mountain Field was discovered by BP, with first production reported in 2002. The field was later operated by Freeport-McMoRan Oil & Gas and is now controlled by Anadarko following Anadarko’s purchase of Freeport-McMoRan’s deepwater assets. Anadarko’s headquarters are in The Woodlands, Texas.
