Description
Kosmos Energy has announced appraisal well #2-Yakaar hit approximately 30 m of net gas pay in similar high-quality Cenomanian reservoir to exploration well #1-Yakaar. The wells are targeting the Mauritania/Senegal gas trend. The #2-Yakaar proved the southern extension of the field and was drilled to 4,800 m and area water depth is approximately 2,500 m. According to Dallas-based Kosmos, the discovery in the Cayar Offshore Profond block has the potential to support an LNG project that provides significant volumes of gas to both domestic and export markets. Development of Yakaar-Teranga is expected in a phased approach with Phase 1 providing domestic gas and data to optimize the development of future phases.
