Drilling Activity Summary

Description

In South Australia's Cooper Basin, Beach Energy Ltd. has encountered a thick coal seam with elevated gas shows at #1-Davenport unconventional evaluation well in the PEL94 permit area. The well has was drilled to 2,102 meters and a sidetrack well is currently being drilled to cut cores in Patchawarra. Preliminary log data indicates that #1-Davenport penetrated thick coals and shales through Toolachee, Roseneath shale, Epsilon, and Murteree shale and Patchawarra. More than 110 meters of net coal were encountered including one seam with more than 45 meters of net coal and two further seams with net coal a thickness of more than 20 meters. Elevated gas shows were recorded across the target formations. The #1-Davenport is the first well drilled in the center of the Milpera Trough in PEL 94. Samples and cores will be sent for laboratory analysis to determine hydrocarbon content and the potential productivity of the coal and shale formations. Beach Energy is the operator of PEL94 and #1-Davenport with 50% interest in partnership with Strike Energy, (35%) and Senex Energy (15%). Beach Energy is based in Adelaide, South Australia.
