Bengal Energy Hits Oil In Multiple Jurassic Formations
Drilling Activity Details
Drilling Activity Summary
Description
Calgary-based Bengal Energy Ltd. has announced details of a gas discovery in Queensland's ATP752P permit area at exploration well #1-Nubba in the Wompi sub-block. The exploratory venture was designed to evaluate oil-bearing sands found with 3-D seismic data from the offsetting Bowen Field to the northeast. Light oil shows were encountered in five different Jurassic reservoir-bearing formations and the well also intersected up to 6.2 m of gas pay in Permian Toolachee with reservoir pressure data indicating a potential gas column of up to 70 m. Gas Authority of India Ltd is the operator of ATP752P, its sub-basins and wells, in partnership with Bengal Energy and Arrow Energy.
