Description
A deeper pool exploratory test is under way in Clay County, Ill., by Bernard Podolsky. The Xenia East Field venture, #9 Campbell Heirs Deep, has a planned depth of 4,850 ft. The Illinois Basin test is in Section 11-2n-5e and is targeting oil pays in Bailey Lime (Lower Devonian). Offsetting the Fairfield, Ill.-based operator’s drillsite is a Bethel Sand well completed in 1959 — #5 Campbell Heirs, which was drilled to 2,823 ft. According to IHS Markit, Xenia East Field was opened in 1951, with wells in the reservoir yielding crude from Mississippian pays. The deepest field production comes from McClosky Lime.
