McMoRan Exploration Co. reported a 150-ft. pay zone at its Blueberry Hill deep gas prospect in Mound Point Field in South Marsh Island in Louisiana state waters. At #1 State Lease 340, McMoRan plans additional evaluation with wireline logging. The well was drilled to a true vertical depth of 21,900 ft. and the company plans to deepen it to approximately 24,000 ft. Blueberry Hill, in 10 ft. of water near existing infrastructure, is a sidetrack to a test drilled by the New Orleans-based company in 2004. McMoRan owns a 42.9% working interest in the well and controls 150,000 gross acres in the Tiger Shoal/Mound Point area. Plains Exploration & Production Co. holds a 47.9% working interest in Blueberry Hill.
