Shell Oil Co. has scheduled a deepwater bypass on the company’s Dover project in the western half of Mississippi Canyon Block 612. According to the permit, #1 (BP) OCS G33166 will be bypassed at 17,975 ft. Area water depth is 7,300 ft. Nearby is the company’s Ft. Sumter prospect about 6 miles to the west-northwest. The 2016 discovery, #1 OCS G08831 had a true vertical depth of 28,016 ft and is in Block 566. An appraisal sidetrack, #1 (ST) OCS G08831, was the drilled to 29,200 ft. Shell estimates initial recoverable Norphlet resources at more than 125 MMbbl of oil equivalent.
