IHS Markit announced that Byron Energy Ltd. has brought online two wells on the company’s South Marsh Island Block 71. The #1-F OCS G34266 and #2-F OCS G34266 are producing at a combined restricted rate of 4 Mbbl of oil per day. Volumes are expected to increase, according to the Lafayette, La,-based company. The #1-F OCS G34266 was drilled to 6,843 ft (6,477 ft true vertical) in 2016 and encountered 150 ft of pay in several Pleistocene sands. In 2017, #2-F OCS G34266 was drilled to 8,615 ft, and hit 190 ft of net oil pay in four Pleistocene sands. Byron Energy operates the offshore Louisiana project with a 50% stake. Otto Energy owns the remaining 50% interest in the Block 71 lease.
