Castex Energy is under way a shallow-water test in Louisiana’s Ship Shoal Block 136. The #1 OCS G36513 is in the southwestern portion of the tract and area water depth is 55 ft. According to an exploration plan filed in late 2019, a second test could be drilled from an offsetting surface location. Under an earlier lease (OCS G03790), Ship Shoal Block 136 was part of Ship Shoal Block 113 Field. Murphy Oil & Gas previously operated three gas wells on Block 136. Through perforations in Pleistocene at 2,836-4,756 ft, recovery from three wells totaled 6.4 Bcf of gas from 1984 through 1998. Castex is based in Houston.
