Description
A Beach Energy Ltd. development well intersected 8.7 m of net oil pay in Namur Sandstone and a 4-m (gross) interval of oil-bearing McKinlay. The #19-Bauer is in PPL 253, within PEL 91 in the Cooper Basin. It has been cased and suspended as a future McKinlay and Namur oil producer. The Namur oil column find could increase the estimated ultimate recovery of oil from Bauer Field. The #19-Bauer is part of a six-well pad development program and additional exploration and appraisal wells are planned for the second half of 2015. Beach Energy conducted a flow test at a nearby completion, #1-Stunsail. It produced 6.768 MMbbl/d from Namur/McKinlay and 1.152 MMbbl/d from Mid-Namur. Tested on a 64/64-in. choke, the wellhead pressure was 253 psi. Adelaide-based Beach Energy is the operator of PEL 91 and Bauer Field with 40% interest in partnership with Drillsearch Energy, which holds the other 60%.
