A Cooper Basin exploration well, #1-Balgowan, hit a gross oil interval of approximately 29.5 ft (11.4 ft gross and net) in Namur Sandstone, with 16.4 ft in the overlying McKinlay Member. Operator Beach Energy Ltd.'s discovery is in permit area PEL91 in the Cooper Basin. The new field discovery in South Australia at #1-Balgowan has extended the oil fairway in PEL91. Adelaide, South Australia-based Beach is moving the rig to drill exploration well #1-Burners, which is located between the Balgowan and Stunsail discoveries. Beach is the operator of PEL91 and #1-Balgowan with 40% interest in partnership with Drillsearch Energy holding the remaining 60%.
