Drilling Activity Details
Drilling Activity Summary
Description
A Beach Energy Ltd well in Australia's Cooper Basin, #1-Moonta, flowed at a maximum controlled rate of 2.6 million cu. ft. per day, and is currently flowing at 1.6 million cu. ft. per day through a 1.5-in. choke. The well produces from the Nappamerri Trough in South Australia has the highest tested flowrate to date of the three PEL218 Permian unconventional gas exploration wells. The initial two wells on the prospect, #1-Encounter and #1-Holdfast, both had peak gas flowrates of approximately 2.1 million cu. ft. per day and were stimulated in the REM section with a single stage in the uppermost Patchawarra. The #1-Moonta was stimulated in nine stages through Patchawarra and a single stage in Murtree shale. At #1-Holdfast, additional testing of Murtree shale is planned and the rig is drilling ahead to 3,163 meters. Beach Energy's headquarters are in Adelaide.
