Description
In South Australia, Cooper Energy reported an oil discovery at #1-Windmill in permit area PEL92. The discovery is on the western flank of the Cooper Basin and tapped Namur Sandstone and Birkhead. The exploration well was drilled in the central part of the PEL92 permit area to 2,100 meters and wireline logs were run confirming a six-meter net oil column in Namur sandstone and some indications of oil within Birkhead. Additional testing, including a drillstem test, is planned. Beach Energy is the operator of PEL92 and #1-Windmill with 75% interest in partnership with Cooper, which holds the remaining 25%. Cooper Energy's headquarters are in Perth.
