Description
Laurel, Miss-based Venture Oil & Gas Inc. has scheduled a 16,500-ft wildcat in Smith County, Miss., more than two miles north of production in the state’s Soso Field. The Cotton Valley venture, #1 Sims 7-8 will be directionally drilled in Section 7-10n-13w. It is expected to bottom within one-half mile to the north in Section 6. Several abandoned wildcats have been drilled just east of Venture’s planned wildcat, with most of the tests being abandoned at 6,000 ft or less. The deepest drilling in the area, #1 H.E. Stone in Section 8, was drilled to 12,520 ft in 1964.
