W&T Offshore Inc. has permitted a development test in Mississippi Canyon Block 800 Field. The #2 OCS G18292 will be in the southeastern portion of the block. Water depth in the area is 3,100 ft. The offsetting #1SS (ST) OCS G18292 was drilled by Newfield Exploration in 2008 to 16,870 ft. Now owned by W&T Offshore, the lone producer on the lease has produced 5.7 MMbbl of crude and 8 Bcf of gas through 2018. Well production comes from an Upper Miocene zone at 16,486-16,575 ft. Mississippi Canyon Block 800 Field is the only producing reservoir in this part of the Mississippi Canyon area. W&T Offshore’s headquarters are in Houston.
