Description
Beacon Offshore Energy has spud a development test in Claiborne Field in Mississippi Canyon Block 794. The #3SS OCS G34909 is the first of three new tests planned for the field, according to a development plan filed in late 2019 by the Houston-based company. Similar to the two producing oil wells on the block, additional wells will be tied back to the Walter Oil & Gas-owned A platform on Ewing Bank Block 834, Water depth in the area is 1,500 ft. According to IHS Markit, first production from Claiborne Field was reported in early 2017, where two wells recovered 2.7 MMbbl of crude and 3.2 Bcf from Miocene through late 2019. Claiborne Field was discovered and initially developed by LLOG Exploration, which continues to hold a stake in the field.
