Description
Anadarko Petroleum Corp. has received exploration plan approval for a new prospect between the company’s King/Horn Mountain fields. The Yellowfin prospect will consist of Mississippi Canyon Block 128 (OCS G35964) and Block 129 (OCS G10977). Up to 20 tests could be drilled on the tracts. Water depth in the area is 5,400 ft. The King/Horn Mountain fields were discovered by BP, with first production reported in 2002. In 2016, Anadarko purchased Freeport-McMoRan’s deepwater assets. Since the acquisition, Anadarko has drilled several subsea wells in the field as part of a plan to increase production.
