IHS Markit reported that Beacon Offshore Energy has scheduled the first exploratory test on one of the company’s several new prospects in the Green Canyon area. The Highgarden prospect venture, #1 OCS G35879, will be drilled in the southern portion of Green Canyon Block 895. According to the prospect’s exploration plan, as many of four tests are planned for the tract: the Highgarden exploratory test is in 5,500 ft of water. In 2013, Cobalt International Energy drilled a wildcat on adjacent Block 896. The #1 (BP) OCS G31765 was drilled to 36,552 ft with no other details available. Cobalt’s venture was abandoned, and the lease expired.
