ExxonMobil Corp., based in Houston, is planning to drill another offshore Guyana exploration well in the Stabroek Block. The #1-Snoek is about six miles south of the #1-Liza discovery, which hit more than 90 m of high quality oil-bearing sandstone reservoirs. It was drilled to 17,825 ft in 5,719 ft of water. Nearby drilling was at #1-Payara, which encountered more than 29 m of good quality, oil-bearing sandstone reservoirs. The Stabroek Block encompasses 26,800 sq km. ExxonMobil subsidiary Esso Guyana is the operator and holds 45% interest in partnership with Hess, holding 30%, and CNOOC with the remaining 25%.
