Description
IHS Markit reported that Beacon Offshore Energy has permitted the first exploratory test on the Houston-based company’s Tabasco prospect in the Gulf of Mexico. The #1 OCS G36624 will be in the eastern half of Green Canyon Block 35. Water depth in the area is 1,850 ft. The prospect’s exploration plan indicates that as many as three tests will be drilled in the eastern half of the tract. Nearby production is at Walter Oil & Gas’ Manta Ray Field (Ewing Bank Block 1006). Since coming online in 1999, reservoir output totals 4.9 MMbbl of crude/condensate and 12.6 Bcf of gas from a range of perforations in Pleistocene and Pliocene at 8,450-11,614 ft. Field production in recent years has come from one active well.
