The first horizontal well in Richard King Field was completed by Houston-based Durango Resources Corp. in Nueces County, (RRC Dist. 4) Texas. The #1H Mary King Estell was tested flowing 91 bbl of 38-degree-gravity crude and 90 bbl of water per day from a fracture-stimulated openhole Frio zone at 5,608-9,168 ft. The horizontal well was drilled to 9,168 ft, 5,631 ft true vertical. It is on a 4,133-acre South Texas lease in the Rafael Garcia Survey, A-120 and it bottomed about 1 mile to the north in J.J. de la Garza Survey, A-221.
