Drilling Activity Details
Drilling Activity Summary
Description
In the Northern Territory, Statoil has drilled and cased vertical exploration well #1-Oz-Alpha in the South Georgina Basin. A total of 196 m of core were recovered in a continuous coring process, which penetrated Lower Arthur Creek and Thorntonia. Located in Block EP 104, the venture is the first of up to five vertical tests to be drilled, and up to three of the wells will be cased for future hydraulic fracture stimulation and production-testing. The rig is being moved to a second well, #1-Oz-Beta in EP 127. Statoil is the operator and is earning up to 80 per cent interest in blocks EP103, 104, 127 and 128 as well as EP213 and 252, which are being explored for shale oil and gas. PetroFrontier holds the remaining interest. Statoil's headquarters are in Stavanger, Norway.
