Stroud Petroleum Inc. plans to drill a horizontal test in a part of Cass County (RRC Dist. 6), Texas, surrounded by vertical oil production. The #4H Starcke will be on a 680-acre East Texas lease in Bryant Holmes Survey, A-447. It is expected to bottom about 1.25 miles to the south. Stroud's planned horizontal venture will reach a true vertical depth of 10,180 ft, targeting oil in Cotton Valley as part of Mcleod North Field. The planned #4H Starcke will offset Sklar Exploration's #1 Long. This 6,141-ft vertical well was tested in 1964 flowing 180 bbl of 42.5-degree-gravity oil per day through perforations in Rodessa at 5,989-95 ft. Stroud is based in Shreveport, La.
