Description
Empire Energy has reported a liquids-rich gas discovery at exploration well #1-Carpentaria in McArthur Basin's Block EP187, onshore Northern Territory, Australia. According to the company, the well intersected Velkerri Shale at a shallower level than expected (833 m to 1,831 m). The proportion of thick and contiguous liquids-rich gas intersected at the venture exceeds that of previous wells drilled by Santos and Origin Energy across the Beetaloo Basin. Empire will continue drilling to the planned total depth of about 2,200 m and will test it with wireline logging, sidewall cores and diagnostic fracture integrity tests in the first quarter of 2021.
