Description
A long-reach horizontal Marchand producer was reported by Unit Petroleum Co. in Caddo County Okla. The Gracemont East Field well, #1HXL 5-D 13/12, is in Section 18-8n-9w. It was tested flowing 706 bbl of 40-degree-gravity oil, 358 Mcf of gas and 2.234 Mbbl of water per day. Production is from perforations between 11,224 and 20,412 ft and a short open-hole zone extending to 20,422 ft. The well was acidized and fractured and tested on an open choke with a shut-in tubing pressure of 3,100 psi and a flowing tubing pressure of 161 psi. The discovery was drilled west into Section 13-8n-10w, then north almost 2 miles to a true vertical depth of 10,390 ft with a bottom-hole location in Section 12-8n-10w. According to the Tulsa-based company, the Marchand target underlying Section 13-8n-10w averages about 62 ft thick, has 9.5% porosity and 33% water saturation. The recoverable original oil-in-place was calculated at 3.13 MMbbl.
