Middle Bakken Discovery: 6.278 Mbbl Of Oil, 6.989 MMcf Of Gas Per Day
Drilling Activity Details
Drilling Activity Summary
Description
In Mountrail County, N.D., a Marathon Oil Corp. Middle Bakken discovery flowed 6.278 Mbbl of 40-degree-gravity oil, 6.989 MMcf of gas and 3.672 Mbbl of water per day. The extended-reach horizontal well, #44-22H Forsman-USA, is in the Williston Basin’s Antelope Field. The venture was drilled in Section 22-151n-94w and production is from a lateral extending from 11,557 ft northward to 21,596 ft with a bottomhole location in Section 15-151n-94w. The true vertical depth is 10,689 ft. The well reportedly has several sidetracks in its effort to curve eastward into Section 22 before the lateral in the Middle Bakken was drilled northward. It was tested on 1-in. choke following 45-stage fracturing and acidizing between 11,617 and 21,021 ft. The flowing casing pressure was 1,675 psi. Marathon is based in Houston.
