Description
Another Miocene oil development test was added to Walter Oil & Gas Corp.’s Coelacanth Field in the Ewing Bank area. According to IHS Markit, #9-A OCS G33140 will be drilled from Platform A in the far northern portion of Ewing Bank Block 834 and will bottom to the north beneath Block 790. Water depth in the area is 1,200 ft. The Block 834 platform rig has been on location during 2018, most recently drilling #6-A OCS G35805 to an unreported depth. The development test was slated to bottom to the northwest beneath Block 789. Wells drilled from the platform yield crude from perforations from Miocene at around 20,000-23,000 ft. Walter’s headquarters are in Houston.
