Stone Energy Corp. announced results from a Miocene well that was drilled at the company’s Pompano platform in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. The #4 OCS G09771 hit approximately 153 net ft of oil pay in one Miocene interval with no water. The discovery is on Mississippi Canyon Block 28 and was drilled to 12,176 ft, 10,135 ft true vertical. Additional completion information is not available. Completion operations are scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2018. According to Stone, the well will have a production rate of 3-5 Mboe/d and will be tied back to the Pompano platform on Viosca Knoll Block 989. Stone is based in Lafayette, La.
