Description
An appraisal test has been permitted by Murphy Oil Corp. on the company's 2012 Dalmatian South discovery on DeSoto Canyon Block 134. The #2 OCS G23488 will be in the northern portion of the tract. Water depth at the site is 6,200 ft. According to IHS, the company made a shallow Miocene discovery in late 2012 about one mile to the southwest. The #1 OCS G23488 hit 50 ft of oil pay and a sidetrack, #1 (ST) OCS G23488, hit 86 ft of oil pay. It was drilled to 14,425 ft in Miocene, and the sidetrack reached a total depth of 14,561 ft. Seven miles to the northeast, first production at Murphy's Dalmatian Field was reported in April 2014. On DeSoto Canyon Block 48, #1SS OCS G10440 produces through perforations in Miocene at 16,168-16,230 ft. Murphy is based in El Dorado, Ark.
