Description
An offshore discovery was reported by Murphy Oil Corp. at the El Dorado, Ark.-based company’s Samurai Prospect. The appraisal test, #2 OCS G32504, is in Green Canyon Block 432 and hit more than 150 ft of pay, primarily from two Miocene zones found at the original Samurai discovery. The well was drilled to an estimated depth of 32,000 ft. Murphy estimates that the discovered resources exceed its mean, pre-drill expectation of 75 MMboe. Murphy also discovered oil pay in additional zones that were not tested in the Samurai discovery and is drilling two bypass wells. Samurai was originally discovered at #1 OCS G32504 in 2009 by Anadarko Petroleum Corp.
