Description
On the western flank of Eromanga Basin in South Australia, Senex Energy Ltd. announced that exploration well #1-Martlet hit a Namur oil accumulation. The exploration well is in PEL104, approximately 2 km southeast of exploration well #1-Warhawk. The #1-Martlet was designed to evaluate the oil potential of the sandstone within an interpreted four-way dip-closed structure and had a planned depth of 2,096 m. According to the Brisbane-based company, there were good oil shows in the target reservoir and log evaluation indicated up to 6 m of net pay. The well is currently being cased and suspended and is expected to be placed on production in late 2014. Senex is the operator of PEL104 and #1-Martlet well with 60 per cent interest in partnership with Beach Energy holding the remaining 40 per cent.
