Houston-based ExxonMobil completed its sixth discovery in offshore Guyana’s Stabroek Block. The #1-Ranger hit a 230-ft oil bearing reservoir with high-quality oil. The well was drilled to 21,161 ft and area water depth is 8,973 ft. According to ExxonMobil, the recoverable resource estimate for the block has been increased to 3.2 Bboe. When #1-Ranger is complete, the drillship will be moved to the Pacora prospect, which is about 4 miles to the north. Additional exploration drilling is planned on Stabroek Block for 2018, including potential appraisal drilling at the Ranger discovery. ExxonMobil is the operator and holds 45% interest in the block along with Hess Corp., 30%, and CNOOC Ltd. with 25%.
