A Niobrara pay discovery was reported on the southwestern flank of the Powder River Basin by Northwoods Energy LLC. The #21W33-2NH Spruce is in Section 21-40n-75w in Converse County, Wyo. According to the company, it initially flowed 2.21 Mboe per day (78% oil) from a 9,628-ft lateral. It was drilled to the south to 22,198 ft (12,315 ft true vertical) and bottomed in Section 33-40n-75w. The well was originally permitted to SM Energy as #4075-28-33-1FH Bingo-Federal. Denver-based Northwoods acquired the venture from SM Energy and subsequently changed its name, number, and objective from Frontier to Niobrara.
