Drilling Activity Summary
Description
Brisbane-based Senex Energy Ltd. announced an oil discovery in South Australia on the Western Flank of the Cooper Basin at #1-Breguet in PEL104. The discovery is about 1.6 km west of the producing Spitfire oilfield and was drilled to test Birkhead Sandstones within a four-way structural closure. Elevated gas readings were found as well as oil shows. Preliminary log evaluation indicates a net pay zone of up to 5.7 m within an 18.5-m gross oil column. A wireline formation test was performed across between 1,673 and 1,689 m that indicated the presence of movable oil. The well is being cased and suspended and is expected to be placed on production in 2019. Senex is the operator of PEL104 and #1-Breguet with 60% interest in partnership with Beach Energy holding the remaining 40%.
