Description
IHS Markit reported that Oil Search has filed a Lease Plan of Operations application with Alaska state regulators to drill and test a North Slope exploratory well, #1 Stirrup, on the east side of the Colville River. The company also submitted a Miscellaneous Land Use Permit application to authorize a walkaway vertical seismic profile survey on #1 Stirrup during the 2019-20 winter season. The vertical seismic profile on the well will collect data on subsurface reservoir characteristics in the exploration area. The project will have four ice pads for staging; construction; telecommunications and drilling at Drill Site 2P. The #1 Stirrup will be vertically drilled to approximately 6,000 ft in Section 8-8n-3e, Umiat Meridian.
