Pemex Submits Plan for Alosa Block in Gulf of Mexico
Drilling Activity Details
Drilling Activity Summary
Description
An exploration plan has submitted by Pemex for the Alosa Block (AE-0171) in the Bay of Campeche’s Veracruz Block. The project will evaluate the petroleum potential of 466 sq km in the block. Pemex will conduct 3D seismic surveying and will drill one exploratory well, #1-Cuica, in Lower Miocene. The surveying and drilling will target objectives at depths of 3,100 m, where it expects to find wet gas recoverable reserves of approximately 23 MMboe. Another potential exploration well, #1-Cualli, may be drilled to test Lower Miocene at about 3,000 m. The block has had several 3D seismic studies but no drilling activity, although the company drilled in adjoining blocks more than 10 years ago, and four of those wells proved to be productive. Pemex is based in Mexico City.
