Description
IHS Markit reported that XTO Energy Inc. has permitted a horizontal Piceance Basin test in Rio Blanco County, Colo., where there has been little horizontal drilling. The #197-3A2H RNPU has a planned depth of 22,085 ft and it will be in irregular Section 3-1s-79w. The lateral will target Iles at a true vertical depth of 12,033 ft. The planned bottom-hole location is about 2 miles to the northeast in Section 1. The venture will offset a directional Piceance Creek Field well completed in 2007 by Exxon Mobil: #197-3A1 Wild Horse was tested flowing 5.899 MMcf of gas and 1,405 bbl of water per day from fracture-treated perforations ranging from Williams Fork at 10,737 ft to Corcoran at 13,403 ft. It was drilled to 13,845 ft (12,812 ft true vertical). In early 2020, XTO permitted a nearby horizontal test within 2 miles to the northwest at #197-4A1H RNPU – the planned depth is 20,622 ft (11,166 ft true vertical). It is in irregular Section 4-1s-97w with a planned bottomhole location about 2 miles to the northeast in Garden Gulch. XTO is a subsidiary of Exxon Mobil.
