Drilling Activity Summary
Description
John O. Schofield Inc. has re-permitted a deep, remote exploratory test in southeastern Illinois. The company’s #1 Schofield-Hicks Dome has a planned depth of 12,500 ft and will be in Section 30-11s-8e in Hardin County. The deep wildcat is targeting Granite Rhyolite Wash (Precambrian). Only two wildcats have been drilled within 5 miles of the Evansville, Ind.-based company’s proposed drillsite. Also in Section 30 is #1 H. Hamp, which was abandoned in 1953 at 2,948 ft. The other wildcat in the area, #1 Missouri Portland Cement in Section 36, was abandoned in 1978 at 370 ft. There is only one successful oil completion in the county — #1 A. Lane in Section 20-11s-10e was tested in 1947 pumping an unreported amount of oil from Lower Renault at 1,098-1,107 ft.
