Perth Basin Well Produces From Carynginia, More Tests Planned
Drilling Activity Details
Drilling Activity Summary
Description
In Western Australia's North Perth Basin, Norwest Energy NL announced initial results from #2-Arrowsmith, a shale gas venture in the EP413 permit area. Approximately 350,000 cu. ft. per day has flowed from Carynginia during a limited period. The company encountered some flowback problems because some fracturing fluid has remained in the targeted formation. According to the company, Carynginia is laterally extensive and is approximately 250 meters thick in the vicinity of the well. Following additional testing in Carynginia, operations will continue in to Irwin River Coal Measure and High Cliff Sandstone intervals. The High Cliff Sandstone had a maximum flowrate of 777,000 cu. ft. per day. The #2-Arrowsmith is shut-in to monitor pressure build-up and additional testing is planned. Norwest's objective for the current operations is to establish gas rates for contingent resource calculations from each of the individual formations. Perth-based Norwest is the operator of EP413 and #2-Arrowsmith with 27.945% interest in partnership with AWE Limited, holding 44.252%, and Bharat PetroResources with 27.803%.
