Drilling Activity Summary
Description
Senex Energy, based in Brisbane, drilled two Cooper Basin exploration wells in South Australia’s PEL 182. The #1-Sparta was drilled to 2,227 ft and was targeting a four-way dip structural closure in Namur Sandstone. It encountered oil shows and tight reservoir quality in Birkhead. According to Senex, it indicates the migration of hydrocarbons through the area. The well was plugged and abandoned. Exploration well #1-Hoplite was targeting Namur Sandstone, Birkhead and Murta. It was drilled to 2,200 m and encountered good oil shows in Birkhead and elevated gas readings across the same interval. Logging results indicate a gross pay of 17 m in Birkhead. A drillstem test is planned. Senex expects to drill a third exploration target in PEL 182 after test data from #1-Sparta and #1-Hoplite are analyzed.
