Description

According to IHS Markit, details were reported on two outlier Codell discoveries in the Denver-Julesburg Basin Niobrara/Codell play by Extraction Oil & Gas. Both wells were originally completed several years ago by 8 North LLC, an affiliate of Extraction Oil & Gas, in Weld County, Colo. The #1 Thomas East is in Section 16-10n-67w and was completed initially flowing 114 bbl of 37-degree-gravity oil, 61 Mcf of gas and 969 bbl of water per day. It was tested through a 20/64-in. choke after 50-stage fracturing (plug and perf) between 8,948 and 18,746 ft. The Codell lateral was drilled to the south to 18,830 ft (8,102 ft true vertical) at a bottom-hole location in Section 21-10n-67w. To the north in Section 36-12n-62w, #1 Silverback was completed initially flowing 166 bbl of 37-degree-gravity oil, 80 Mcf of gas and 1.018 bbl of water per day. Production is from a lateral mainly in Codell drilled to the south to 17,510 ft (7319 ft true vertical) at a bottom-hole location in Section 1-11n-62w. It was tested on a 20/64-in. choke after a 50-stage fracturing between 7,615 and 17,433 ft. The lateral has perforations in Niobrara at 7,615-83 ft; Fort Hays at 7,715-7,916 ft; 10,146-10,613 ft and 14,340-14,907 ft, and Codell at 7,949-10,115 ft, 10,645-14,308 ft and 14,940-17,433 ft.
