West Bay Exploration has scheduled a wildcat in Illinois’ Sangamon County. The #1-28 Meijer will be in Section 28-16n-3w and has a planned depth of 2,000 ft. West Bay’s venture is targeting oil pays in Silurian. Nearby drilling is within 1 mile to the southwest at a Silurian wildcat drilled in 1963: #1 Powers in Section 33 was abandoned at a total depth of 1,747 ft. The most recent field well was completed in 2006 at #1 Cundiff in Section 30 — it was tested pumping 6 bbl of crude and 50 bbl of water per day from Silurian at 1,652-56 ft. Total depth is 1,696 ft. Sangamon County’s Dawson Field was opened in 1971. West Bay is based in Traverse City.
