Senex Finds 10-meter Oil Channel in Cooper Basin, Australia
Drilling Activity Details
Drilling Activity Summary
Description
A Senex Energy development well on the western flank of the South Australian Cooper Basin, #11-Growler, mapped the limits of the field's eastern limb. The PRL 15 permit well was drilled to 1,855 meters and was cased as a future producer. Wireline logs confirmed the presence of a 10.1 meters gross oil column in Birkhead over the interval from 1,735.8 to 1,745.9 meters with interpreted net oil pay of at least 7.7 meters. The well also indicates good connectivity to other wells in Growler Field. The #11-Growler is the fourth well in the Joint Venture's 11-well exploration and appraisal drilling program in PRL 15 and PEL 104, in the highly prospective Birkhead channel play on the western flank of the South Australian Cooper Basin. Senex Energy, based in Brisbane, holds a 60% interest in PRL 15 and is the joint venture operator, with the remaining 40% interest held by Beach Energy.
