IHS Markit reported that Byron Energy Ltd. has logged 211 ft of oil pay at the third Pleistocene test on the company’s South Marsh Island Block 71 project. The #3-F OCS G34266 was drilled to 7,717 ft. On the same prospect, #2-F OCS G34266 was drilled in 2017 to 8,615 ft and hit 190 ft of net oil pay in four Pleistocene sands. In addition, Byron’s #1-F OCS G34266 was drilled in 2016 to 6,843 ft (6,477 ft true vertical). The well encountered 150 ft of pay in several sands. Byron’s headquarters are in Melbourne, Victoria.
