A Cotton Valley oil discovery was announced by Venture Oil & Gas Inc. in Mississippi's Tallahoma Creek Field. Located in Section 26-8n-12w of Jones County, #1 Sumrall 26-5 was tested flowing 245 bbl of 42-degree-gravity crude and 40 bbl of water through acid- and fracture-treated perforations at 16,364-84 ft. The directional well was drilled to 17,152 ft. Venture's headquarters are in Laurel, Miss.
