Drilling Activity Summary
Description
Australian Worldwide Exploration, operator of Production Licenses L1/L2 in the northern Perth Basin, Western Australia announced that preliminary analysis of wireline log and pressure data from appraisal well #4-Waitsia has confirmed the eastern extension of the Waitsia gas field. According to the company, there were strong gas shows across a 150-m gross interval including Kingia and High Cliff Sandstone reservoir targets. The well was drilled to 3,744 m. It is has been cased and suspended for future testing and production. Preparations are now underway to flow test #2-Waitsia, #3-Waitsia and #4-Waitsia. Preliminary interpretation of the Kingia reservoir shows excellent conventional reservoir qualities similar to those observed in #3-Waitsia. The gross Kingia reservoir interval of 42 m contains 21 m of net gas pay with reservoir quality similar to #3-Waitsia. The Kingia net reservoir interval in both #3-Waitsia and #4-Waitsia is more than double that observed in other wells in the field and confirms the laterally extensive nature of this excellent reservoir. The High Cliff Sandstone reservoir interval and Irwin River Coal Measures were gas-bearing and preliminary analysis indicates these are tight reservoirs. Perth-based Australia Worldwide is the operator of L1 and L2 and the Waitsia wells with 50% interest in partnership with Origin Energy Resources holding the remaining 50%.
