Description

In Butler County, Pa., Pittsburg-based Penn Energy Resources completed three Winfield Field wells. According to the company, the wells are producing from the Union Springs, a lower member of Marcellus Shale. The discoveries were drilled from a pad in Section 7, Worthington 7.5 Quad, Winfield Township. The #2H PER W44 was drilled to 13,894 ft (6,589 ft true vertical) and tested after 32 stages of fracturing. It flowed 8.16 MMcf of gas per day from perforations between 7,250 and 13,600 ft. The #4H PER W44 was drilled to 14,467 ft (6,686 ft true vertical) and flowed 8.088 MMcf of gas per day from perforations at 8,572-14,320 ft after 29-stage fracturing. The #3H PER W44 was drilled to 13,320 ft, 6,421 ft true vertical, and flowed 7.272 MMcf of gas from perforations at 7,150-12,500 ft.
