Denver independent Whiting Petroleum Corp. announced results from two Middle Bakken discoveries in the Williston Basin in the Hidden Bench area in McKenzie County, N.D. The #34-8H Mallow is in Section 8-149n-98w and initially produced 4.837 Mboe per day. The well was fracture-stimulated in 40 stages. It was horizontally drilled to the northeast to 21,265 ft, 11,321 ft true vertical, and bottomed in Section 5-149n-98w. The offsetting #2-17-5 Smokey in Section 17-149n-98w flowed an average of 2.647 Mboe per day from Three Forks, according to Whiting. Additional completion information is not available.
